A strange little side quest
Merge Diner belongs to a much longer story of play than a browser tab might suggest. Cone-shaped wafers with cream were described in print before 1900, but the ice-cream cone became a major American fairground hit at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. A second detail makes the picture even better: M.U.L.E. arrived in 1983 with multiplayer competition built around gathering resources and keeping a colony alive, an early example of resource-driven strategy play. That long chain of experiments is part of why food history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
