A strange little side quest
Put Medieval Merchant next to the history of role-playing games and a few unexpected connections appear. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. A second detail makes the picture even better: Archery first appeared at the Olympic Games in 1900 and returned permanently to the programme in 1972 after a long absence. That gives Medieval Merchant a little more company than it first appears to have.
