A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind McDonalds Videogame is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
