A strange little side quest
Put Burger Maker next to the history of food history and a few unexpected connections appear. Nancy Johnson patented a hand-cranked ice-cream freezer in 1843 that used an inner churning chamber surrounded by ice. That is only half the story. M.U.L.E. arrived in 1983 with multiplayer competition built around gathering resources and keeping a colony alive, an early example of resource-driven strategy play. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Burger Maker feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
