A strange little side quest
One reason simulation games keeps producing good game ideas around Last Moment Opening is that its history is full of strange turns. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. The timeline takes another interesting turn: Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
