A strange little side quest
Kitchen Queens may feel immediate, but the ideas around food history have been evolving for a very long time. Tomatoes helped turn Naples' flatbreads into the food we recognize as pizza, which had become an important food for poorer Neapolitans by the 18th century. A second detail makes the picture even better: Reader Rabbit's 1986 arrival was part of a major expansion of educational computer software before the CD-ROM boom of the 1990s. That gives Kitchen Queens a little more company than it first appears to have.
