A little context makes Kiddy Boy more fun to place on the gaming map. The Oregon Trail began in 1971 when three student teachers created a computer simulation to help Minnesota schoolchildren learn American history. A second detail makes the picture even better: Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Kiddy Boy feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
