A strange little side quest

Here is a rabbit hole for the next loading screen in Good Habits: The Oregon Trail began in 1971 when three student teachers created a computer simulation to help Minnesota schoolchildren learn American history. And the history keeps stacking up: Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
