A strange little side quest
One reason simulation games keeps producing good game ideas around Island Farm: Cat Gardener is that its history is full of strange turns. The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. The timeline takes another interesting turn: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. That long chain of experiments is part of why simulation games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
