A strange little side quest

The fun part of looking behind Hit or Knit is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. A major archery competition held at Finsbury in England in 1583 drew about 3,000 participants. The timeline takes another interesting turn: Nintendo's Donkey Kong arrived in 1981 and introduced the character first known as Jumpman, who later became Mario. That long chain of experiments is part of why archery still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
