A strange little side quest
Put Galactic Tennis next to the history of sports history and a few unexpected connections appear. Basketball became an Olympic medal sport in 1936, while women’s basketball joined the Olympic programme in 1976. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. That gives Galactic Tennis a little more company than it first appears to have.
