A strange little side quest
Put Fruit Thieves next to the history of archery and a few unexpected connections appear. Women competed in Olympic archery as early as 1904, making it one of the early Olympic sports to include women. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Chess changed dramatically in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries when the queen became the board's most powerful piece. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Fruit Thieves feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
