Before the next round of Pixlaser, here is a piece of the bigger picture. Modern chess traces back to the Indian game chaturanga, recorded around the sixth century and built around pieces representing parts of an army. It also connects to a different milestone: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Pixlaser feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
