A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Football Heads: 2019-20 Italy (Serie A) sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. The first penalty shoot-out in World Cup history came in the 1982 semi-final between West Germany and France. It also connects to a different milestone: Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
