A strange little side quest
Basketball-Jam may feel immediate, but the ideas around basketball have been evolving for a very long time. The earliest basketball games used peach baskets, and Naismith wrote 13 original rules for the new indoor sport. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Basketball became an Olympic medal sport in 1936, while women’s basketball joined the Olympic programme in 1976. The details change, but the appeal of learning a system and trying again is remarkably persistent.
