GROMBI FACT DROPREAL-WORLD TRIVIA
A strange little side quest
One reason puzzles keeps producing good game ideas around Find Wrong is that its history is full of strange turns. Arthur Wynne published a diamond-shaped 'Word-Cross' in the New York World on December 21, 1913; the name later shifted to 'Cross-Word' and then 'crossword'. The broader history adds one more wrinkle. Space Invaders, released in 1978, helped push video games into mainstream popular culture. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
