A strange little side quest
Zoom out from Escape from Wave for Brainrots for a moment and the timeline gets surprisingly deep. Arthur Wynne published a diamond-shaped 'Word-Cross' in the New York World on December 21, 1913; the name later shifted to 'Cross-Word' and then 'crossword'. That is only half the story. A major archery competition held at Finsbury in England in 1583 drew about 3,000 participants. That long chain of experiments is part of why puzzles still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
