The next time Endless War asks for one more try, remember that game ideas rarely appear from nowhere. Games resembling checkers were being played thousands of years ago; evidence of related games reaches back to around 1600 BC. The broader history adds one more wrinkle. Gun Fight reached arcades in 1975 and became the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. The details change, but the appeal of learning a system and trying again is remarkably persistent.
