A strange little side quest
The next time Domino Masters asks for one more try, remember that game ideas rarely appear from nowhere. Games resembling checkers were being played thousands of years ago; evidence of related games reaches back to around 1600 BC. That is only half the story. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
