A strange little side quest
DIY Slime: Simulator ASMR belongs to a much longer story of play than a browser tab might suggest. M.U.L.E. arrived in 1983 with multiplayer competition built around gathering resources and keeping a colony alive, an early example of resource-driven strategy play. The same trail leads to another fact: Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
