A strange little side quest
The mechanics around Creepy Day have roots that stretch far beyond modern browsers. Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. A second detail makes the picture even better: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. The details change, but the appeal of learning a system and trying again is remarkably persistent.
