A strange little side quest
The mechanics around City Constructor Driver have roots that stretch far beyond modern browsers. Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game, decades before modern 3D racers. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: M.U.L.E. arrived in 1983 with multiplayer competition built around gathering resources and keeping a colony alive, an early example of resource-driven strategy play. That long chain of experiments is part of why racing still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
