A strange little side quest
Before the next round of Be Cool Scooby Doo: World of Mystery, here is a piece of the bigger picture. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. The same trail leads to another fact: Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. That long chain of experiments is part of why role-playing games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
