A strange little side quest
Basket Ball may feel immediate, but the ideas around sports history have been evolving for a very long time. Basketball became an Olympic medal sport in 1936, while women’s basketball joined the Olympic programme in 1976. And the history keeps stacking up: Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
