A strange little side quest
A little context makes Backpack Hero more fun to place on the gaming map. Archery first appeared at the Olympic Games in 1900 and returned permanently to the programme in 1972 after a long absence. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
