A strange little side quest
One reason space keeps producing good game ideas around Armaggeddon is that its history is full of strange turns. Humans did not see the Moon's far side until a Soviet spacecraft flew past it in 1959. A second detail makes the picture even better: Chess changed dramatically in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries when the queen became the board's most powerful piece. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
