A strange little side quest
Put Alarmy 2: Cristalland next to the history of puzzles and a few unexpected connections appear. Arthur Wynne published a diamond-shaped 'Word-Cross' in the New York World on December 21, 1913; the name later shifted to 'Cross-Word' and then 'crossword'. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. That gives Alarmy 2: Cristalland a little more company than it first appears to have.
