A strange little side quest
A little context makes Age of Apes more fun to place on the gaming map. Chess changed dramatically in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries when the queen became the board's most powerful piece. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Boxing was part of the ancient Olympic Games by 688 BC, long before gloves, weight classes, or timed rounds existed in anything like their modern form. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
