Even a quick game like Zedbeard sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Space Invaders, released in 1978, helped push video games into mainstream popular culture. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Boxing was part of the ancient Olympic Games by 688 BC, long before gloves, weight classes, or timed rounds existed in anything like their modern form.
