If Wanted Dead or Alive sends you down a curiosity rabbit hole, start here. Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
