A strange little side quest
The next time Divine Intervention asks for one more try, remember that game ideas rarely appear from nowhere. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
