A strange little side quest

Put Vexon next to the history of action games and a few unexpected connections appear. Gun Fight reached arcades in 1975 and became the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Space Invaders, released in 1978, helped push video games into mainstream popular culture. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
