A strange little side quest
The next time Squid Game Guard 011 asks for one more try, remember that game ideas rarely appear from nowhere. Gun Fight reached arcades in 1975 and became the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. A second detail makes the picture even better: Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
