A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Uber Driver Simulator sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. A top Formula 1 tyre stop can happen in under two seconds; McLaren set a 1.80-second pit-stop record. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. That gives Uber Driver Simulator a little more company than it first appears to have.
