A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Tower Mania is anything but tiny. A major archery competition held at Finsbury in England in 1583 drew about 3,000 participants. The timeline takes another interesting turn: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. That long chain of experiments is part of why archery still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
