A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Toby's Adventures is anything but tiny. Nancy Johnson patented a hand-cranked ice-cream freezer in 1843 that used an inner churning chamber surrounded by ice. The broader history adds one more wrinkle. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
