A strange little side quest
One reason puzzles keeps producing good game ideas around Tiles of the Unexpected is that its history is full of strange turns. The name Tetris combines a reference to four-square pieces with Pajitnov's interest in tennis. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Tiles of the Unexpected feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
