A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like 3D Chess Room sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Chess changed dramatically in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries when the queen became the board's most powerful piece. The same trail leads to another fact: Alexey Pajitnov created Tetris in 1984 after drawing inspiration from pentomino puzzles, then simplified the idea around shapes made from four squares. That gives 3D Chess Room a little more company than it first appears to have.
