A strange little side quest
A small trivia drop for They Took My Cat: Doom changed game design and distribution in 1993 by separating its engine from content and spreading widely through shareware. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. That long chain of experiments is part of why action games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
