A strange little side quest
Sniper Assassin may feel immediate, but the ideas around action games have been evolving for a very long time. Gun Fight reached arcades in 1975 and became the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
