A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind The Spider Solitaire is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. That long chain of experiments is part of why arcade history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
