A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Steve Jobs Dressup sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. During much of the 19th century in the United States, visibly painted cosmetics became socially unacceptable even though beauty practices never disappeared. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
