A strange little side quest
Put SteppenWolf (Chapter 2 - Episode 1) next to the history of role-playing games and a few unexpected connections appear. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. A second detail makes the picture even better: Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. Grombi files that under: small game, surprisingly large backstory.
