A strange little side quest
Zoom out from Skate on Free Assets for a moment and the timeline gets surprisingly deep. Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game, decades before modern 3D racers. And the history keeps stacking up: Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. That long chain of experiments is part of why racing still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
