A strange little side quest
High School Teacher Simulator may feel immediate, but the ideas around learning games have been evolving for a very long time. The Oregon Trail began in 1971 when three student teachers created a computer simulation to help Minnesota schoolchildren learn American history. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. That gives High School Teacher Simulator a little more company than it first appears to have.
