A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Crazy Dentist Wojak sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Reader Rabbit's 1986 arrival was part of a major expansion of educational computer software before the CD-ROM boom of the 1990s. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. That long chain of experiments is part of why learning games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
