A strange little side quest
Save Ed may feel immediate, but the ideas around video-game history have been evolving for a very long time. Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. The broader history adds one more wrinkle. Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. That long chain of experiments is part of why video-game history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
