A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Samurai Survivor is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Boxing was part of the ancient Olympic Games by 688 BC, long before gloves, weight classes, or timed rounds existed in anything like their modern form. So a round of Samurai Survivor is not just a quick distraction; it is a tiny stop on a much longer role-playing games timeline.
