A strange little side quest
Zoom out from Rezer for a moment and the timeline gets surprisingly deep. Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Space Invaders, released in 1978, helped push video games into mainstream popular culture. That gives Rezer a little more company than it first appears to have.
