A strange little side quest
The next time Quest Epic Proportions asks for one more try, remember that game ideas rarely appear from nowhere. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. The same trail leads to another fact: Reader Rabbit's 1986 arrival was part of a major expansion of educational computer software before the CD-ROM boom of the 1990s. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
